Club launch

Members private launch

Our Launch provides a FREE service, from your boat within Falmouth Harbour, to and from RCYC.

Our club launch operates daily from 1st April until 31st October. On racing nights, the launch continues until the end of racing.
The launch can be contacted on VHF channel 37 (M).  The call sign is ‘Club Launch’.

It is clear, from the way the launch is sometimes used, that there may be some confusion in the minds of both Club Members and the drivers of the launch, regarding acceptable and unacceptable use of the launch. This document is intended to clarify the position from the Club’s perspective.

Who may use the RCYC Launch?
1)     Members of the RCYC and their guests may use the launch to convey them between RCYC and the member’s yacht. No other destinations are allowed except during Falmouth week, on the Flushing Sailing Club day, when members may be conveyed between their yachts, Flushing Sailing Club and the RCYC.

2)     Visiting Yachtsmen and their crews from other yacht clubs may be conveyed between their visitor’s mooring and RCYC, where the visitor must sign in via the visitor book in the hallway.

What is the Territorial Limit for the Launch?
The Launch may not travel outside the 6 knot limit and may only visit the moorings in the harbour area. Pontoons and quaysides at the various marinas are out of bounds unless prior approval has been given by the Rear Commodore Sailing for specific sailing events e.g. Falmouth Classics contenders coming to RCYC from the Yacht Haven for food/entertainment during the Sea Shanty weekend.

What are the Launch Hours and how may extensions be booked?
The Launch service hours are published on the Club’s website and are

  • April & October – 10:15 – 16:45 every day (Half hour lunch break at approximately 13:30)
  • May – September – 10:15 – 18:45 every day (Half hour lunch break at approximately 13:30)
  • Tuesdays and Fridays – Until racing finishes (Supper break between 19:00 and 19:30)

Extensions may be booked by requesting an extension, in writing, with the office, giving reasons for the extension needed at least 7 days before the start date of the extension. The office will pass the request onto the person responsible for the Launch, for action and to respond to the requester.

To contact the launch use Channel 37 (M1) and the call sign “Club Launch”.

Please include your mooring number and number of passengers along with your boat name.
