cruising objectives
RCYC objectives
RCYC will have a cruising group called RCYC CRUISING
The bye-line for cruising at the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club will be “Meandering with Charts”; to encompass a relaxed self organising approach, responding to circumstances, open and welcoming to all members, minimum organisation, maximum enjoyment! Open to all, sail or motor.
A programme of cruises will be published, organised to avoid clashing with major Club and Harbour events, with one major cruise and weekend or mid week 1 to 3 day cruises throughout the summer. Mid week events could perhaps overlap or integrate with meandering.
The details
The Programme: Will set dates and destinations with alternatives to be developed so that adverse weather will not cause cancellation
The Organiser: There will be an organiser for each cruise to be the focus for communication, planning and briefing.
Briefing: Cruises will have an informal briefing to share passage plans, knowledge of the destination, so that members new to sailing, to their boat, or the area can feel confident about taking part
Cruising in company: Cruises will have the option of “cruising in company”
Joining: Boats can join a cruise at any time for as long or as they wish.
Communication
Communication: To help this to happen we will have a group WhatsApp for all members interested in cruising to discuss matters related to cruising, communicate before and during events; discuss arrangements, arrange ‘ad hoc’ meet ups. drop in and out of a cruise, share photographs and knowledge. A working not a social chat group. When cruising, VHF Channel 72 is preferred.
Access to the WhatsApp group: Send a WhatsApp to Chris Houchin with your name and the name of your boat to be added to the Group.
